We like to brag that we have the best color copies in town. We believe we do. We often receive comments from customers that our copies look better than their originals. The built-in document feeder allows us to easily copy a stack of originals. And, the originals can be any size up to 12 x 18 and can even be of mixed size. Full-bleed (color all the way to the edge) 11 x 17 copies are no problem. We can run them on 12 x 18 oversized stock and trim them down to 11 x 17 for our clients. Bright white stock, gloss, high-gloss, text weight or cover... we can run it and we probably have it in stock. But, our Xerox DocuColor 240 is much more than a color copier. It is a full color laser printer capable of creating 40 original images per minute. And, it prints full color just like an offset press using cyan, magenta, yellow and black inks. This makes it excellent as a cost-effective solution for short run, full color projects. |

When we are using the DocuColor 240 as a printer for digital imaging, it uses an EFI Fiery EXP250 printer controller and raster image processor (RIP), as pictured on the left. The EXP250 is connected to our shop network and we can send jobs to the printer from most workstations in the shop, though jobs are usually sent from our graphics workstation. Jobs appear at the controller and the operator can select the number of prints to run, stock type and size as well as other production properties and then release the job to the DocuColor 240 printer. We often have jobs that are repeat jobs. The EXP250 allows us to archive jobs to a server on our network, then retrieve them at any time to run them again. Short run business cards, wine labels (as shown below) and brochures are excellent candidates to be run on the DocuColor 240 with the EFI Fiery EXP250 printer controller. It allows us to offer fast turnaround of short run full color jobs at very economical prices. |
